Reagan Dead

It's the end of an era. Reagan dead and what with Thatcher nearly withdrawn from public life and Gorbachev seemingly missing in action, surely now, if ever, the cold war has gone from living history.

It is intresting to note that the BBC have broken the news, but as of now, the main blogs seem to have missed it, other than Drudge... and of course us. Maybe blogging isn't as rapid as many people have made out.

I would propose two alternative hypotheses for the lack of blogging regarding the death of Mr Reagan:

1. Who cares? It's hardly of any consequence.

and

2. What is anyone supposed to say about it? What kind of reasonable blogging comment could you make? Alas, poor Ronald, I knew him, Horatio? Short of giving us an obituary of the guy, which the main news portals will do for us anyway, there's very little most bloggers can add. I would suggest that it isn't the rapidity of blogging which is in question here, it is the relevance of the comment. Bloggers are clearly too clever to simply blog for blogging's sake.

Actually, it's all over the web now. Although I appreciate your anti-anything to do with America and American history (including Buffalo), even you must now admit that the 80s are totally over. I feel as though I can never watch Back to the Future again.
