| "Welcome to Ollie's
Dayorama Ratings. Here, I'll be giving my rating (and an explanation)
of the day gone by."
The very first words on Dayorama, written by Ollie on 22 August
2002. The idea: a blog where Ollie and co-founder OJ 'rate the
day' using a sort of Beaufort Scale for news between 0 and 12.
The concept earned Dayorama recognition from The Guardian when
the newspaper shortlisted it for the 2002 Best British Blog award.
Since then Dayorama has become a personal blog and Ollie's presence
has been the one constant between 2002 and now.
As well as designing and maintaining the blog he's been ever-present
among the ranks of those actively writing - on topics ranging
from football and politics to travel and music (he spotted the
Kaiser Chiefs before they made it big, the only time he's ever
pre-empted a bandwagon). He's also a keen photographer and cameraman
when he gets the chance.
Ollie, born in High Wycombe on 1 November 1984, studied at Oxford
alongside fellow Dayorama contributors OJ and Amy, then worked
alongside the latest Dayorama recruit, David Sheppard, in BBC
local radio. He's currently a journalist for BBC Sport.
