David Sheppard

"The bus is something that intrigues almost everybody who's never owned a bus."

Meet David Sheppard, the man for whom a hobby has become something altogether more tangible.

David and his friends - household BBC Radio 2 names - own, between them, a Routemaster bus. David's sat his bus exams and now they take it up and down the country for parties, private functions, tours of London at Christmas and more.

But that's not David's day job. In fact, it's a little tricky to say precisely what the day job is for the man born in Reading on 6 November 1981.

He's everything from the technical ace who props up an entire local radio station, to the relaxed, affable and approachable presenter whose Sunday morning show occupies a place in the hearts of hundreds of people who don't even live in its area of broadcast. Such is David's power on Listen Again.

Dayorama recruited him in September 2006 and though you'll have to keep your wits about you to spot him posting, it'll almost certainly be worth the wait. From the exploits of the bus and the radio station to David's all-encompassing knowledge of everything from ales to the rails, there's little to which this man can't turn a hand.
