About Dayorama Welcome to Dayorama. Amy, Ollie and OJ went to Oxford University together between 2002 and 2005 - Amy and OJ at Lincoln College, Ollie at Exeter. David has time at Oxford to his name too, but joined having met Ollie working for BBC local radio. The summer of 2007 sees Amy J finish her Oxford degree. Dayorama's been online in one form or another since 2002. It started life as a current affairs weblog: Ollie and OJ rated each day from 1 to 12, like some sort of political Beaufort Scale, according to how historically important they felt it had been. It was shortlisted by The Guardian for the 2002 British Weblog Of The Year award, which was nice of them, even if we had stopped posting to it by then. After a couple of stop-start attempts at reviving the weblog, Dayorama returned as a more personal affair in early 2004, at which point Amy joined the crew. David signed up as a fourth contributor in September 2006, and Amy J's debut came in April 2007. If you're reading this weblog, chances are you know one or more of us somehow. If you don't: Amy is working her way towards a hefty salary as a fully qualified lawyer. During her tenure as a Dayorama author, she's bought and moved into a luxurious flat in London's Bow Quarter, started her training at the Inns of Court School of Law, and - along with Ollie - learnt what it means to consume copious quantities of alcohol in a social environment (get drunk down the pub). Look out for posts about the weather, her kitten Daisy, and her arch nemesis Barclays. Also watch out for the continuing saga of her highly effective complaints against any corporation that has the misfortune to disappoint her. Ollie and OJ went to the same school - Taunton School, in Somerset - for eleven years, and then went to the same university. They studied the same subject. This led to an intensely competitive fourteen years or so, a period that only came to an end with Ollie's departure to London. He's now joined BBC Radio Berkshire's online team. Look out for posts about various journalistic exploits, unlikely injuries, and anything that turns up in his all-seeing RSS Reader. OJ used to be the sole remaining academic of the trio, pursuing American history with a surprising degree of passion, particularly if it involved buffalo (and bison jokes). However, he's now moved into the world of politics he so adores as a researcher for an MP in the Westcountry. Look out for posts on all things American, all things Oxford and all things politics, but beware the lengthy narratives if he ever goes anywhere abroad. David was the new boy when he joined in September 2006, a good two and a half years after Amy joined Ollie and OJ. He owns a bus with a number of Radio 2 household names (Alan Dedicoat is in his mobile phone contacts as 'Deadly'), works with Ollie in BBC local radio, and has been proudly pictured being strangled by Terry Wogan. Look out for thoughts on radio, transport, and cats - particularly Tiddles, the feline correspondent. Amy J finds herself distinguished by her initial, but she'd say she's distinguished anyway. Certainly she has more claim to nobility than most, but we'll let her tell you about that. Sport and Amy go well together - she's played cricket at Lord's, for a start, and she's a passionate Cheltenham Town fan. Cheltenham and Oxford are where she's living for now, but look out for posts about Botswana, her spiritual home, and Richard Hammond, her spiritual husband. If you know us, or even if you don't, have fun, leave comments and email us if you like (see the links on the right). We'll be spending our time here writing about stuff in the news, things that happen in our daily lives (so you might get a mention if you know us!) and anything else that takes our fancy. If you're going to be a regular around here, you should probably read this post on the origins of the site, and frankly it can't hurt to read from the very start in 2002. Some of it's interesting, promise!
